For our version of Black is Beautiful, we teamed up with Shades of Hopz + Main & Six! This is a worldwide fundraiser. As of writing this, there are just over 1,000 other breweries in the world joining forces. All our proceeds from this beer will be going to the Jacksonville Urban League; a nonprofit, special-service and advocacy organization that works to fulfill its mission of empowering communities and changing lives. We hope this is not just a moment, but a movement. Cheers!

Excellent head production and very good retention; nice lacing. From body to froth, this is a wonderfully dark stout that truly lives up to its name.
On the nose: chocolate, espresso, toast, nuts, molasses, a touch of licorice, banana, toffee, red grape, light char. Fairly straightforward imperial stout.
Similar on the palate, albeit less sweet. A little too much interplay between the yeast and malt, resulting in more banana and nut tones along a toasty malt base, but lacking in the rich chocolatey depth I look for in a double digit imperial stout. Low hop bitterness, but there is a modest amount of bitter char.
It's not bad, but it isn't the best-executed example of the style, at least for my preferences. At the same time, it doesn't bring anything new to the table. It's pretty much just OK, and there's nothing wrong with that.
