I received a 25 oz. bottle from @roguer in an NBS BIF. It was a "mystery beer" which I reviewed blind. Poured into a tulip glass. It pours a murky, muddy orange color with a large, frothy, milk-white head that dissipated quickly. The color is quite unique. The nose instantly indicates spontaneous fermentation but there is a strong fruity aroma. It's also oaky from the Foerder aging. The smell is really pleasant. The initial taste is sour but not distracting. The Guava and strawberry add lots of sweetness to balance the sourness. As it warms and breaths in the glass it becomes sweeter and I can taste the rye. It's very flavorful. This ale has a nice, thick mouth feel and fairly mildly carbonated for the style. It drinks easily at 6% ABV. Overall, this is a very approachable, flavorful sour ale. It would be great to drink outside during the summer.
