Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours pitch black with a small light brown head. Smells of chocolate with light fruit. Tastes of chocolate and some fruit, good balance. Beer is light bodied and very smooth and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Pours a nice brown-black with a solid mocha head that fades out really quickly. I smell cinnamon for sure... maybe a chocolatey mix of everything else. Tastewise, it has the hearty stout flavor, of course. It is potent with an aftertaste of cinnamon. I think the cinnamon is predominate, but I definitely got the banana on that last sip. It's good. A little sweet going down. It's pretty full and smooth, very drinkable for a big boy. I might want a little more banana here.

Pours solid very dark brown with a 1 finger silky tan head that settles quickly to a film leaving no lacing. Aroma has warm cocoa and cinnamon notes over malt. Taste has chocolate and some cinnamon and a touch of banana esters but over a sensible rich stout base. There is a touch of rys bourbon I get too. Feel is very soft and creamy smooth with a bit of lingering effervescence in the finish along with a filmy chocolate. This is a delightful stout. I was worried with the extreme beer box set it would be over the top bananas but it seems well balanced to me.

16 ounce can in a stemmed stout glass. From the Extreme Beer Box 2022.

Pitch black color with a 2F dark khaki color cap. The cap drops to a film and leaves a light ring of lacing.

Cinnamon coated bananas and a dose of vanilla kick the aroma. There’s a note of roasted malt in the aroma but cinnamon dominates the point of a hot and spicy candy.

Banana, vanilla, chocolate, and sugary flavors-all covered with cinnamon.

Smooth and drinkable @ 12% abv. There’s no escaping the line from a 1990s Butthole Surfers’ song…”cinnamon and sugar…”.

Ditto

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear thick viscous jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark chestnut brown + dark cola brown + dark amber colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy dark mocha colored head that reduces to a medium to large sized patch of thin film covering a little more than 35% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of roasted + dark + caramel + toasted + chocolate malts with a slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lactose sweetness. Moderate aromas of bananas + cinnamon + vanilla. Light aromas of booziness.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of roasted + dark + caramel + toasted + chocolate malts with a slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lactose sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of bananas + cinnamon + vanilla as well as light flavors of booziness. Finally there are hints of earthy hops. Light amounts of roasty bitterness which lingers slightly though overall there is a moderate amount of lingering sweetness.

M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth and slightly creamy.

O: Drinks pretty easily for a big sweet dessert stout with decently well hidden alcohol and a nice full mouthfeel. Doesn’t quite capture the flavor profile of banana’s foster (which I learned to make in a cooking class with a New Orleans chef) though close - too much cinnamon and not quite enough banana. Still a very enjoyable dessert beer.

Appearance: Pours fudge brown with a one finger mocha head that slowly fades; spotty lacing

Smell: The cinnamon is powerful, like a Red Hot, with chocolate, banana and vanilla present, but in the back seat

Taste: Cinnamon dominant, with dark chocolate malt and hints of banana and vanilla; the banana grows more prominent as the liquid warms but the cinnamon overpowers everything

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low to moderate carbonation

Overall: This doesn't quite capture the Bananas Foster concept as the cinnamon is just too powerful; I enjoyed the beer but it didn't hit the notes I anticipated

Extreme Beer selection shared with brew club. Light to little banana on the nose but clearly a sweet stout, heavy on the sweet side and a bit too much though realize it's a dessert beer. So much going on the banana got lost. Shared across 6 tasters and only 1 said they would enjoy this again.

Modest head production and retention. Once the beer settles, quite a bit of sediment can be seen on the bottom and lower sides of the glass. Overall appearance of the dark black body itself is quite nice.

Cinnamon is the most prominent additive on the nose, followed by vanilla and perhaps even banana. There is a nice vaguely stout-like richness beneath, with notes of chocolate, molasses, and cola. It smells very good, but the dominance of the cinnamon makes it a bit one-note.

As soon as it hits the palate, the banana - perhaps understated on the nose - screams its way into the conversation. It's not at all unpleasant, either, with a balanced blend of tasting notes, including banana, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, coffee, prune, cinnamon, pale cookie dough, and brown sugar.

A bit thin on the palate for my preference, especially at 12% and with what looks like a pastry stout approach. Very drinkable, however, despite the high ABV.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Pours a rich onyx topped by a finger+ of tan foam. The nose comprises banana (shocking!), dark chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla. The same essentially applies on the tongue, though the dark chocolate now has more of a chocolate syrup character, and some caramel syrup has been dripped in here and there. It's sweet and spicy (the spiced way, not the hot), kids. The body is a light heavy, with a light moderate carbonation and a rather smooth, just-shy-of-chunky feel. Rather nice bit of dessert stout here, gotta say.
