Wow. Welcome to Bottlehouse Brewing. My son (and others) told me this place was good. They were understating. It is great. Besides this wonderful porter, they cook up some amazing mead combinations and other great beers and ales.
This one opens black and not particularly foaming, so not a ton of lace (not needed). It does have an exceptional aroma - fruit and hops and sweetness all together.
The taste is sublime. A perfect blend of subdued flavors. Roasty malts dominate, but not too roasty. The fruit and vanilla are there but way lower in the profile. There is a little hops showing through too. The whole taste is just an ideal balance.
The aftertaste is an afterglow. The booze is there but you didn't notice. All this and served in a very cool tasting room. I wish I had time to go back (or stick around) and have another one to see if I shouldn't RAISE these ratings. It is that good. Highly recommended.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
