One of our most unique and challenging brews, made more so by a very extended aging. Dry, vinous, slightly bitter and surprisingly not sour or funky.

Apricot color in a tulip with little head. Smell was sweetly boozy but not overly so. Likewise on the taste as I sipped it slowly. Mouthfeel was refreshingly tart. I enjoyed it.

Having this beer on-tap at the brewery. As of this review, this beer is actually classified incorrectly in the data base here.
This beer is actually an American Barleywine with Brett yeast used in it, but is not an American Brett beer. Served in a tulip style glass, this beer draws a clear, light to medium copper/amber color with a white head that’s about an inch thick when first drawn and served. Settles to a thick white ring lining the inside of the glass and a nice thick surface coating of foam. Good lacing here too. Aromas of some toasted caramel malt sweetness along with some funky oak notes, a bit of yeastiness, and alcohol. The taste is very similar, with some toasted, bready caramel sweet notes along with a nice oak and slightly barnyard funk and just a hint of sour tartness that no doubt from the fact that this was aged in white wine barrels and has Brett yeast in it. Has some decent hop bitterness to round out the flavor profile. Very good overall flavor profile and all the different flavors are well balanced. Has a fairly crisp, also smooth and frothy, medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. Has a somewhat dry finish and aftertaste. This is a very nice beer all around.

I just came home from an amazing concert (Cleveland Orchestra, Mahler's 2nd Symphony) and got some great news about my daughter's writing career, so I need to toast with something. This is all I have other than mediocre wine and outstanding liquor. Beats me what it is.

It looks great in the glass. Clear, minor head that goes away. The aroma is like a boozy old ale. I'd put the taste in that vicinity too, but with a wild twang. It's definitely a nasty sipper. The aftertaste is intense but not really as boozy as the aroma.

Recommended. I don't know what this style should taste like but I'll drink this any time it is put in front of me. Thanks to my son for picking this up for me.

Beautifully shimmering burnt amber with a thick, soft uniform cream-colored head that slowly fades to a short but persistent collar.

Smell is rug, fiery pine, caramel and toffee.

Taste too is like a strong, old school West Coast IPA, and in no way like a strong Bretty ale. Actually, its high octane nature is probably the culprit, or else they just threw Brett into a bad batch of IPA. I get notes of caramel, rug and pine with a sharp booze that kicks up after the swallow like tequila. This is not really funky or sour or earthy in any way you'd imagine a Brett influenced ale might be.

A sharp but light carbonation runs through a slick, light body before a hot, semi-dry finish.
