Dark and roasty lager that's still nice and light on the palate. Mellow chocolate and roasted coffee notes with a hint of burnt caramel.

Drank from a pint glass on tap.
A: Dark, molasses brown, almost no head and minimal lacing.
S: Malty and almost smokey, dominant note is of carob.
T: Roasted grain with an almost marmite-like taste. Good bitterness with a light acidity.
M: Refreshing and thin, not too much structure, which is reflected in the appearance.
Overall: Pretty solid; a nice sessionable schwartzbier. Not incredible but a solid drink.

The Bottlehouse half of my 65th birthday present from my dear son leads off with this, a nice take on an old style.
It pours black with not much fizz, right from the can, but it maintains a nice supply of inherent carbonation. The aroma is nice blend of roasty malts and a bit of yeastiness. The taste is a very satisfying roasty dryness, with some good bittering from hops complementing the successful brew. It finishes so neutral and thin that you could eat anything with this.
Recommended. This is a nice, roasty treat, without much alcohol (or fizz, unfortunately).
