such a weird beer, a pale ale type with lavender and pistachios, a strange combination to say the least, but it works, at least as well as any other beer they make, one of the better and more clever beers i have ever had from these guys. they have toned it down from earlier batches for sure, i recall the lavender being way too much in the past, but now its dialed back and adds a nice springy lightness to this thing, while at the same time giving it some almost hoppy bitterness that is needed i think to balance the sweetness of the malt. the pistachio is present in both aroma and flavor, they must use an essential oil or something to get it so robust in here, i cant imagine there are whole nuts in the beer, it seems too clean for that, but i could be wrong. its a nice natural pistachio flavor, complimentary of the grain, and really unique with the lavender. it has a cookie vibe, a little desserty, like a wedding cupcake or some other fancy confection, but the flavor really is good. some hops in the finish keep it tasting like beer, and i think the proportions of both the lavender and the nuts is right on. not for everyone i am sure, but this is ambitious and quite good!
