i have seen this beer around for awhile now, and its nice to finally have some, on draft no less. its a weird red rye strong ale, hazy and just darker than raw amber honey in the glass, modist head. sweet aroma and flavor, more of the caramel and red barley malts than there is rye here, i was hoping for a little more of the spice to come though in the flavor, i suppose it adds a little nuance, but definitely not as rye driven as it could be. i like all the body though, and there are still some nice malt layers here, fresh baked brown bread, apple notes, honey, brown sugar, a sort of english tasting yeast with everything else going on. the booze comes through more in the nose than the taste or the feel, but its quite obviously a strong ale. smooth long finish here, some lingering sweetness, lots of bubbles too though, quite expressive for its strength. good beer, but i sure would like more rye presence in here, it would make it far more interesting. i like these guys, like their mission, and have enjoyed most of their beers. this is the only one i have ever seen from them in a bottle too...

Poured from a 2015 22oz bottle; into a pub glass.
Appearance - blood orange, mild carbonation with only a very thin white head. Lacing is nonexistent.
Smell - sweet candied malts, a touch of alcohol and a hint of pine.
Taste - an interesting blend of caramel candy, tangerine, pine and floral hops and booze; I dig the flavor assortment here!
Feel - a little rich and heavy from the 9%, but not bad; fairly balanced malt vs hop, however the malts ultimately win out.
Overall - this is a 2015 bottle that a friend brought over, so definitely dated; however the 9% maintained some great flavors here, so I'm intrigued and think I'll look into grabbing a fresh bottle in the future.

Thanks to DR G for sharing this with my brother and me, poured chilled from the bomber in a goblet.
The color is beautiful medium amber with slight haze and thick white cream with ultra fine bead. The smell has a lot of fruity and citrus tropical hop aromas with low malt and alcohol in the nose . The feel is excellent, very smooth layering of hop texture with malt with low sweetness and moderate carbonation with almost no alcohol in the feel.
The taste is great, very fruity with citrus hop flavors with a ruby red quality of grapefruit zest and light malt foundation to support the hops with mild sweetness and practically no alcohol in the taste. This is a great imperial red wonderful hop flavor with subtle bitterness very easy to drink and does not give any indication of double digit abv even though it is listed as 10% on the bottle.
