Had at Zona Grille from a bottle
Shared it with my Partner it was very tasty, very smooth mouth feel, rich chocolate taste. The awesome sweetness of the beer combined with the chocolate is truly awesome. I also love the smooth and velvety texture this beer has.

Very good, best milk stout in the southern tier.

Enjoying one of the first bottlings of this beer; heard it sold out everywhere pretty damn quick. So thanks to the brewmaster for saving the gf and I a bottle!

Poured into tulip; oily brown pour, opaque black in the glass with a huge dense dark brown head that rises rapidly and then descends slowly leaving spotty lacing as it does. Gorgeous beer.
Smells of coffee and chocolate malt, softer malty sweetness, and a pinch of earthy hop bitterness at the end.
Taste is exactly what a milk stout should be. If there were a taste dictionary, this would be the entry for "milk stout." Roasty chocolate and coffee malt balanced perfectly with milk chocolate and lactose sweetness, pinch of earthy hop melding with the roasty bitterness at the end. Beautiful in its simplicity, this is one of those beers that shows how good a stout can be when it's made perfectly to-style, and that a stout doesn't always need to be some 15% abv soy sauce aged in Charlemagne's personal bourbon barrels to be awesome.
Mouthfeel is thick and smooth, awesome. The body added by the milk sugar is great.
Overall, I've already said it, this is a perfect milk stout. The first bottled beer I've had from the North Brewery, and this definitely seems like a great start to a great line of bottles.

A: This beer is dark, black, opaque. Very satisfying to look at. Not much of a head to speak of, what was there was an off white/tan that faded to a thin brown foam on the edges of the glass

S: sweet maltiness, some chocolaty bitterness. No hops detected. Nothing special, but nothing bad, Smells like a beer I would want to drink.

T: sweet. Chocolatey, malty, and sweet. Smooth as butter. this is an incredible milk stout. very little alcohol bite because of how intense it is. Milky chocolate flavors and the sweetness make for a deliciously overwhelming experience.

M: This beer is smooth and thick. One of the thickest beers Ive ever tasted. it sticks to your mouth. Perfect for the style. It is low in carbonation, but not to its disadvantage.

O: This is a great beer, it is like drinking a chocolate milkshake. This is a milk stout with nothing held back. If you like sweet beers/milk stouts, you cant do much better than this.

App. - Nice, thick and black with a good, thick and creamy head that didn't last too terribly long. Poured into an Ommegang tulip.

Scent - There's a lot of creaminess, a nice roast smell, and a bit of cocoa, although I don't think it's actual chocolate.

Taste - It's a milk stout turned up to 11. A good, strong beer with only a slight bitterness on the aftertaste, but could very easily be a breakfast beer. The cocoa flavor carries over and convinces me that it's not actual chocolate in the beer. No overstrong taste of alcohol despite being 8%.

Mouthfeel - Smoother than anything I've had, and velvety. Not a lot of carbonation, but that makes it go down easy.

Overview - This is my first try from the North, and it's amazing. I only regret being too far away to get it regularly.

Double D's, as one might expect, is a milk stout, brewed with "a ton" of lactose, according to the brewer who was working the bar at The North today. This isn't my favorite North brew, but my girlfriend liked it, so we left with a half-growler. 10 oz pour into my small snifter.

A - basic, jet black with a big head on the forced pour, rises and falls quickly. Nothing spectacular, but certainly nothing wrong here.

S - good, the creaminess is already evident, and some of the roasted malt and barley comes through as well. There's something a tad unpleasant there though, something ricey.

T - it tastes better than it smells, and the rice on the nose doesn't transfer to the mouth. I'm enjoying the robust flavor and the extreme richness. I don't really care for this style, but I can tell that it's executed well here.

M - very good, very smooth. The lack of carbonation and extreme lactose makes this easy drinking. I can't believe it's 8%.

O - an excellent example of the style, as far as I can tell. There are some things I didn't like about it, but more things that I did. Another well constructed beer from The North.
