Poured into becker pint glass; black inky liquid with a moderate brown head.
Smells of raisins, cloves, dark malt, and piney hops.
Taste follows nose...I'm surprised how well the belgian yeast flavors of raisin, clove, and other fermented fruit blends with the hoppy flavors of herbal, pine, and citrus rind. It's really a great combination that I wouldn't have thought of before.
Mouthfeel is smooth as hell and relatively thick for the style. Makes the beer almost a sipper.
Overall, a great conclusion to the Dark Ale series and a delicious beer; this coming from someone who isn't a huge fan of belgian-style beers. Great stuff!
