Freshly filled half-growler poured into tulip; very dark brown, no light gets through. Some tiny bubbles rise from a rough pour and create a minimal off-white head that fades into a ring of tiny bubbles quickly.
Smell is, well, bubble gum. Belgian yeast esters dominate the nose, with other scents of fruit, banana, the usual belgian bouquet. Also some bready malt behind the yeast.
Taste is dark, bready malt, very smooth. This blends right into yeast flavors of bubble gum, banana, fruit, sweet bread.
Mouthfeel is relatively thin, I think I'd like more of a creamy feel to it (although it could have lost some carbonation).
Overall, this is a tasty beer. The second North beer I've had with the addition of Belgian yeast, and the flavors add a lot to the dark malts and make some lovely combinations.
