Right out of the bottle, first day, this beer contends with bottle years older.
The taste is smooth with a subtle chili heat that gives it a warm mouth feel.
A beer this mellow with age with the best of them!

Appearance: Doesn't pour as thick as say BCBS, but not thin either. No light penetration. Black with a thin caramel head that sticks around the edges for quite a while.
Smell: A vanilla bomb. A faint pepper smell, and a little bit of oak tannin. A little chocolate as it warms.
Taste: Vanilla right up front, followed by a little chocolate and some whiskey barrel. The pepper heat comes in at the end with an aggressive approach. Numbs the tongue a little.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full, a little oily and creamy. Right around Bell's Black Note (if you have had that).
Overall: From what I've had in the past from The North, I didn't know what to expect. This one reminds me of a lot of different beers...Vanilla Shake on the smell, Mexican cake on the taste, Black Note on the feel. It's a solid beer and really worth trying to grab.
