hands down my favorite beer i had in here, a big sweet stout with coconut, cinnamon, and chili peppers, but its not as extreme as it sounds, and is actually weirdly drinkable for what it is, heck even my dad liked it! the chili is subtle, which i think helps, the cinnamon plays it up, but always stays bigger than it, warmer, wintery, keeping it mellow somehow, its just a little warm on the back of the throat going down, and its awesome with the dark roast of the grain and dark chocolate character in here, not overly desserty to me, the name is a weird fit for the beer, but these elements are awesome in here. the coconut is cool too, natural enough, a little sweet, and toasted to me, also kind of warming and hearty for a tropical flavor, tastes baked or something to me, and its there from start to finish, combining pretty well with the other added ingredients, certainly a weird mix, but they pull it off. its a little boozy, but it makes me slow down and let the beer warm up, which is when it is at its best. the coconut lingers nicely with the cinnamon and pepper at the end, the proportion of these things to one another is perfect. smooth beer but not carbonated enough, its almost still from the tap, and the slightly exposed alcohol seems like a lot. overall though a really cool recipe, odd but well done, the highlight of our visit to the north brewery!
