Poured into nonic pint glass; deep, cloudy amber with a thick fluffy contrasting white head. Lovely lacing. Smell is sweet malt, some banana-like fruit scents with a slight sour twang at the end. Taste is big sweet malts, some darker fruits; hop bitterness comes in in the back of the mouth with a solid but well-balanced presence. Some vinous characteristics in both smell and flavor. Warming alcohol comes with the finish, a little boozy but very well hidden, and the finish is sweet and sticky. Mouthfeel is big, round, and creamy and smooth. This is my first of the style, and it's set a hell of a standard.
