Poured into becker pint glass; black as night with a medium dark brown head that sticks around, leaving delicate lacing. Smell is sweet fruity hops over roasted chocolate malts, exactly like a black IPA should be (or cascadian dark ale, as I prefer). Taste is bittersweet chocolate and coffee at first, then a twang of bitter hops comes in with some fruity flavors as well. Dark fermented fruit, raisins swimming in booze round out the finish with a creamy full mouthfeel. The least hoppy of North Brewery's black ales so far, but I'm loving the creaminess and complexity of this one.
