First of all, I have to start off with a disclaimer that this may be the review of their IPA, since their pale ale was way hoppier than the IPA (even the bartender agreed).

So, to begin it is crystal clear with an off yellow color. Lighter colored than their IPA.
Floral and citrus hoppy aroma.

The flavor is quite bold for a Pale Ale. It has a nice hop flavor with a strong residual bitterness. After a few sips, the bitterness becomes even more apparent.

Not a bad beer, but I think the IPA should be hoppier than this one--instead it seems they are swapped.

Clear golden amber with a short and creamy off-white head that leaves sheets of lace throughout the start of the glass and some thin lace beyond that. The nose expresses sweet malt and fresh, bright Cascades - very nice! The body is medium/light with a fine and median carbonation that gently tingles on the tongue. The flavor is surprisingly rich with a lightly biscuity and softly sweet malt that balances/supports OR supports/balances the citrusy hop flavor and firm bitterness! My guess is that there's a small amount of chocolate malt in here to add some color and character. It finishes dry with a touch of residual malt and some shortly lingering hop flavor. Very well done! One of the best APA's I've had at a brewpub! It's worth visiting the Redbank location if your anywhere nearby to give this a shot! Impressive!

pours a crisp orange colour with a slight head to it. the smell is slightly sweet and fruity mixed with your basic hop scent. malt is present a bit as well. this brew is medium bodied overall and is full of flavour, it's just that its kind of run of the mill. it starts out a bit sweet and mizes in with the malt before a nice hop finish that's a touch dry as well. easy dirkning and no complaints, but, as i said, nothing to really differentiate it from others. at least give it a try, i'd say, especially if you're in the mood for something simple or are looking for a session beer.

On-tap at The Original Basil T's, Red Bank, NJ

A: The beer is crystal clear yellowish amber in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that quickly died down, leaving delicate lacing on the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Faint aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose.
T: The overall taste has a light to moderate amount of bitterness and has notes of citrusy hops.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is an easy drinking pale ale that has a nice amount of bite and would pair well with the Itslian dishes on the menu.

Pours deep golden with a white, creamy one-finger head.

The aroma is almost non-existant. Some soft buttery notes. Some mild floral/citric notes as it progresses.

The taste is of citric/floral notes. Somewhat grainy, a touch doughy. Dry bitterness with some rounding sweetness in the finish.

Rather thin body. Buttery smooth.

Soft and light. Refreshingly dry. Lacks any real depth or robustness.

On tap at Basil T's, Red Bank, NJ.

Served up a clear amber colored liquid with a nice cap of off-white head that retained as a thick collar and laced the glass. Looked good enough. Faint aroma of grains, and light floral hops, soap. The was a clearly obvious acetaldehyde off-flavor right up front, green apples, honey sweetness, last-luster floral hop notes, with a stale apple finish. Bad bad bad. Mouthfeel was thin and sticky, body was light-medium. Off-flavored and not drinkable.

On tap at the Basil T's Brew Pub.

Poured a golden color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas citrus, some floralness, and some what grainy. Tastes follow of the same citrus, floral and grainy. There wasn't anything that really stood out, but it was quite drinkable.

The beer pours a nice golden color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has excellent balance. It boasts of pale an carapils malts along with some floral hops that add a slightly bitter, yet refreshing aroma. The taste is good as well. It has a fine pale malt flavor that is a bit dry in the finish. The hops help balance the flavor with a bitter, floral aftertaste that is very delicious. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good pale ale. I love the hop qualities in both the taste and the aroma. This is a good drinker.

Not expecting too much, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this beer. Deep gold, off white head...lace decorates the side of the glass. Aroma is rife with Cascades from the dry hopping. Sturdy malt to back it up. A ballsy pale for sure, but drinkable enough for a session.

On tap at Basil T's 9/13/13

Served in a standard pint glass, appearance was pretty good, golden yellow with about 2 fingers of white head. Lacing was good, and maintained.

Very little on the nose, some hops.

Taste was a little disappointing. An initial medium burst of hops, then....nothing. Just your basic "beer" taste. Had I accidentally ordered or recieved their summer adjunct? Nope, wasn't on tonight.

Mouth was a litle below medium.

Overall, a bit disappointed with this one. Didn't seem to have much going for it taste-wise.

on tap at basil t's

Pours a clear, bubbly darker golden orange with a nice, frothy head, leaving rings of lacing around the glass.

Scents of floral hops, toasted grain, lemongrass, and some fruit sweetness.

Begins with a light floral bitterness and a splash of juicy hops. Some very soft caramel malt holds the base down, along with some toasted biscuit and a touch of almost butteryness. Finishes somewhat dry with pleasant hops.

Lighter medium body, higher carbonation, a little dry feel as well. Pretty smooth, easy drinking, and refreshing throughout. The freshness factor is probably the best part of Basil T's, even when the beer isn't necessarily the greatest, although this is probably my favorite.

I gotta say this beer is great! everything that is brewed at Basil T's is very good but this one in particular stands out...being a big fan of IPA's this one is very close to faking you out...It's amber in color and very hoppy. smells very similar to a lot of IPA's out there...all in all if your in the area and ever get to Basil T's you wont be disappointed with a pint of this (or growler)

This was the final brew of the evening on my latest journey to Basil T's. The food was good as was the company and the brews. The evening was sublime and next time I will bring that growler! This is a delightfully quenching and balanced pale ale. Pours a straw gold with a wispy white head that left scant lacing. Aroma of some ripe fruit floral hops and bready malts. Taste was more of the same with a light mouthfeel. The package combined to make a very drinkable brew indeed.

Not a bad way to start my evening at all. A fairly deep coppered colored beer with about a quarter inch of head on top. A pretty basic Pale with a decent hops presence and just a bit of malty sweetness. The mouthfeel is a little thin but not overly. Even though there isn't anything overwhelmingly impressive here it is very clean and drinkable.

Really a fairly decent beer. Kind of low on scent and taste but very drinkable and refreshing. The low % makes it very drinkable and I feel I could drink this all night and not even get a buzz. The cascade hops are quite noticeable but muted. I would definitely order this again if I dine at basil ts but the beer is still very far from being growler worthy.
