Maybe this batch didn't come out so well, idk, but this did not impress me at all. There was little to no sweetness, no hints of chocolate or vanilla, just a strong hint of burnt coffee with some oak character that didn't help it out given the fact that it lacked the aforementioned sweet tastes. Mouthfeel was too thin.
It definitely lacked the qualities that make a porter enjoyable to me.

Oak Aged Vanilla Porter
Served on tap into a pilsner glass at the brewpub
A- Poured a fairly dark brown with lots of ruby hues shining through, frothy off-white head that left no lace
S- Lots of bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malt. Very aromatic, lots of sweetness and roastiness, great balance
T- Lots of bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and vanilla. Very bold flavors, balanced flavor profile. Lots of really nice sweetness balanced very well with the roasted malt.
M- Medium body and incredibly drinkable. Smooth, creamy, and medium carbonation. Finished dry. This drank like a session beer but did not lack body.
O- Really impressive and flavorful beer with very high drinkability. Very impressed, one of the best barrel-aged porters I have had. Not overpowered with the barrel character.
