650ml bottle - I'm not a fan of the idea of so-called 'seasonal' brews that don't specify the actual intended season, other than for you to assume that it's the current one.

This beer pours a clear, dark orange-brick brown colour, with three healthy fingers of puffy, rocky, and somewhat bubbly beige head, which leaves a bit of vertical climbing vine lace in places around the glass as it quite slowly abates.

It smells of roasted, and lightly meaty caramel malt, muddled, but obviously artisanal coffee grounds, stale milk chocolate, a twinge of black licorice, and plain leafy, earthy, and weedy hop bitters. The taste is bready, doughy, and mildly toasted pale and caramel malt, a still kind of wavering Starbucks expensive stuff or higher (based on my wife's drive-through predilections) coffee essence, rancid milk, those marshmallows that my toddler has been surprisingly NOT eating for the past three hours, and more weak leafy, weedy, and sort of floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its mostly supportive and sometimes playful frothiness, the body medium-light in weight, and kind of thin in bearing, with a weak attempt at any manner of smoothness. It finishes trending dry, the acerbic, if not so flavourful coffee essence taking the reins over the languishing malt sweetness.

Yeah, this one really didn't float my boat, and it wasn't the guest ingredient at fault. Ok, it was, but not for its typically overwrought nature, but more for its pithy, non-committal rendering here. I guess if Imma gonna drink a brew made with something I couldn't give a flying fuck about, at least take a shot at converting me, ya know?
