Saucony Creek Brewing Co. "xReserve Pitchforks & Overalls"
on tap at the brewery on 24 Sept 2016
$5/16 oz.
Notes: "A crisp, easy drinking pale ale brewed with local, just harvested Tettnanger whole cone hops from our friends down the road at Hop Hill Farm in New Jerusalem, PA". Hazy golden body beneath a short head of bright white foam. Slightly better than average head retention with some very nice lacing. Floral and lightly herbal aroma over a grainy malt base. The flavor is grainy, grassy, floral, and mildly spicy but there's also an odd, kind of musty note... I'm not sure where that's coming from. It's interesting, and I kind of like it, but I'd imagine others might be turned off. Perhaps it's just the pour that I got, something in the lines or whatever. A stiff bitterness backs it, leaving it balanced, and dry in the finish. Light medium in body with a crisp carbonation. Somewhat unique, and enjoyable.
