It's five o'clock somewhere? Our latest Hazy IPA is brewed with the usual suspects - rolled oats, plenty of wheat, a haze enhancing yeast from London, Citra hops and a touch of Amarillo hops for old-time sake. Cheers!

Saucony Creek Brewing Co. "Unicorns Waiting for Happy Hour"
1 pint can; canning date is illegible
Notes via stream of consciousness: Unicorns Waiting for Happy Hour has poured a cloudy gold body beneath a massive head of white foam. It looks like a hefeweizen. The aroma is a little yeasty, and otherwise suggests a sweetish and wheaty malt base with citrusy hops that are mainly like orange. The flavor is fuller yet the yeastiness remains. I'm getting notes of tangerine, peach, and pineapple as well as hints of grapefruit and lemon. It's also fairly floral, and it has some spiciness to it. The malt is sweetish, wheaty, and oat-like. A moderate to median bitterness balances it and it finishes mostly dry with some of the sweet malt holding on for a bit. In the mouth it's medium bodied but it feels a little fuller because of all the extra proteins from the wheat and oats, and it's smooth and creamy with a moderate, fine-bubbled carbonation. The head has held up quite well and I now have a solid surface covering of creamy foam more than halfway through the glass. In the end the excess yeast in this one is a problem but otherwise it's nicely done. I'll assume that this is just a single batch issue and so I'll let it go for scoring.

A - Opaque medium gold color with frothy white lacing that clings to the glass.
S - Resiny orange and citrus dominate the nose.
T - Resiny orange and sweet red grapefruit / grapefruit rind with a slight bit of pepper spice dominate the palate from start to finish.
M - Big medium body that finishes slightly wet and then morphs to dry on the palate.
