I am not a huge fan of Kolsch style beers. All of the other Saucony taps were dry so I tried the Kolsch and it was pretty good.
Had it at the Reading Liederkranz Octoberfest.
Saucony Creek has some great beers and I was happy to taste this style. I will probably drink more it next summer.

Serving: Draft
Location: Holy Hound Taproom, York, PA
---
Appearance:
---
Crisp, golden yellow. Very light, but not perfectly transparent. The appearance will deceive you!
---
Smell:
---
An odd mix of fresh-cut grass, rain, and cucumber peels.
---
Taste:
---
The first flavor to hit the pallet is the extreme hops. For a Kolsch its very strong, almost IPA like. However unlike an IPA it lacks the floral scents, it reminds me of the sour peels of a cucumber. Almost like the beer was brewed with the water used to wash cucumbers. Oddly, the aftertaste is strong, much like perfume from a lady's neck. Odd. Odd indeed.
---
Mouthfeel:
---
Very light and very carbonated. Leaving your mouth dry, dying for another sip...another sip of something other than this beer, unfortunately.
---
Overall:
---
Certainly far from my favorite beer. The cucumber was enticing, I've heard great things about cucumbers beers. But this beer was a large disappointment.

An interesting take on the traditional Koelsch style. Cucumbers were added to the mix to give the proceedings a cooler taste at the back of the palate. I very much enjoy its lighter crisp flavor but it isn't so light that you'd think you were drinking something else. A fine addition to the summer lineup of beers, and I'm glad I have a keg of it.
