Poured from a 330ml bottle into a Fullers snifter glass. Opened it up and it pretty much exploded out of the bottle (after a week standing still) - so yeah, expecting overdone carbonation on this now 150-200ml of beer.
Pours a dark brown/black colour with a small tan head.
Smells nice and malty - dark, roasty, with a slight sweetness, good start.
Tastes of burnt, dark malts, which are quite bitter and sweet, with a touch of smoke and even an extremely subtle hint of spicy/peppery heat (as the bottle says, from ancho chilies).
Overall better than I expected, but still quite weak on the flavour front. Nice smooth mouthfeel though, presumably the carbonation was vented upon opening.
