A 330ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2013 (bottled May 2013). Acquired recently from Trembling Madness in York.
Poured into a Duvel tulip. Bottle conditioned. A very hazy orange-amber with fine sediment and medium carbonation. Yields a decent head of frothy, off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Aroma of sweet, juicy fruits: white grape, melon, mango, passionfruit, pineapple, citrus and a hint of pine. Underpinned by caramel malt and earthy yeast. Sublimely hoppy.
Tastes of intensely fruity hops with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, orange peel, white grape, melon, citrus, tropical fruit, a hint of pine resin, caramel malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Dry yet slightly sweet, followed by a strident bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly - hop oils tantalise the tastebuds. Good body, though the carbonation could be more effervescent. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity aromatic hops, bitterness and earthy yeast.
A quality effort from Partizan - an avalanche of hops launch an assault on your palate. It looks OK, if a little cloudy, while the aroma and flavour are all about the hops. Fanatically fruity and slightly sweet ; this particular combo is well blended. Good body but lacking in texture - more carbonation required. A tasty IPA that will impress any hop-head. Worth sampling if you come across it.
