A classic Pilsner style lager. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. Brewed with a yeast from the oldest brewery still operating in the world, just north of Munich. Hopped with Bobek instead of traditional Hallertau ot Tettnanger, Bobek is a new Slovenian varietal and a brewery favourite.

330ml bottle, unfiltered & unpasteurised.
L: Hazy, golden colour with many streams of bubbles. Head is white and short-lived. Lacing is patchy.
S: Grainy, like a budweiser.
T: Semi-sweet and lemony. Bitterness is light. Aftertaste is nonexistent.
F: Light carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel but not particularly crisp.
O: Not hoppy enough. Not crisp & refreshing enough. Not flavourful enough. Mouthfeel is bland.

Bottle at Notes Coffee Roasters Pancras Square, London, England

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high frothy white head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of floral hops and pilsener malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of pilsener malts with notes of floral hops and hints of grain.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this beer to be rather floral for a lager as the hops really stand out in the smell.

my first beer from these guys, served on cask, which you dont see with a lager all that often, and maybe wasnt the best way to experience this one, because it sort of naturally depletes the crisp and refreshing elements in the style, although with this one i wonder how much of that was here to begin with. its malty in a different kind of way for the style, doughy, raw, a biscuit batter sort of grain complexion to, plenty dry, but like uncooked or something, earthy in a weird way, and the yeast stands out a lot too, just a different kind of play between the ingredients than i am used to in a lager like this. the flavor has a sort of pizza dough character, flour and mineral water and fast rising yeast, almost a little estery too and even rustic to me, like its a lager meets a french saison. not sure, but i would suspect they could cool the fermentation down or extend the lagering period for this and clean it up a bit. its not real full bodied, but it seems that way because of the cask and the low carbonation, again, an interesting format choice for a beer like this. overall its better than i am making it sound here, the old world character of the malt and yeast is cool, and i like it not just being generic yellow beer, but its in need of some refinement if its ever going to scratch an authentic lager itch...
