Seasonal bottle-conditioned ale from local Horsham brewery--formerly of King & Barnes. When Barnes sold out to Badger (Wall & Woodhouse), King went on his own. 500mL brown bottle poured into a pint glass tumbler.
According to their website, this bitter was brewed to commemorate 5 generations of the King family brewing in Horsham.
A: blonde/amber, pale in colour but cloudy in appearance--thick, foamy white head, leaving plenty of lacing.
S: Mild, hoppy, biscuity
T: exceptionally well-balanced. My wife took a sip and found it too bitter, but I found it to be nearly perfect. No single overpowering flavour--just an amazingly balanced English ale!
M: the only thing better than the taste of this ale is the mouthfeel--smooth and creamy but not in a manufactured (read: widget) way. Incredibly pleasing ale!
O: terrific--will be seeking this out again--especially since it's local!
