pours nice black with minimal head. nice nose of pumpkin and cinnamon as well as some nutmeg and clove. mouthfeel is thin and taste is watered down pumpkin with the spices taking full force in this one. I get mostly lingering cinnamon and allspice throughout the palate dominating to the point where you forget the pumpkin or porter. overall a spice bomb. while not terrible the pumpkin is missing as is any dark roasty porter notes. lick a cinnamon stick and move on. will not revisit this one

Dark black in color with a thin slightly off white head. Constant pearling going on so the head fades slowly. Nose is a hint of pumpkin spices and a mild earthy tones. Taste matches the aroma, pumpkin spices up front finishing off with earthy notes and a hint of malt. Dry crisp finish. Not bad.

Perhaps a tad more carbonated than I prefer. It makes the beer seem to have not quite enough gravitas in the mouthfeel department, for a porter anyway. Flavors are decent in the pumpkin pie area, smells are more pronounced in that regard. I picked up cinnamon and allspice mostly. Malts are a little roasty with a coffee like presence, but it's really rather light. Actual pumpkin in the mash as well, there is a vegetal/gourd note that obviously belongs in a beer with pumpkin in the name. Good effort from Thimble Island, just a little light on character.

Wonderful porter with a good pumpkin taste. Not overwhelming with pumpkin flavor at all. To be picky it could use a little less carbonation in my opinion. Don't think twice about trying this. I bought a single and now wish I just bought a six pack. Even my friends face lit up with shock as to how great it tasted. I'm proud to be so close to such a great brewery. Thimble island out does two roads and stony Creek any day.

Review on 9/25/15. Had at the brewery on the first day of the 2015 release, the girlfriend was excited they had a pumpkin. She asked for it and got this dark beer so she took one sip and handed it to me, score!

Poured murky dark brown with a tan head. Smelled like roasted malts with a wallop of spice. The taste was truly spectacular. You had a nice mix of the porter dark malts and their chocolate notes along with the pumpkin and strong spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Some lingering smoky notes at the end. Felt great, give me another!

On draft at Cask Republic, New Haven. Very dark porter (lighting is "intimate" at Cask so...) with a beige head. Smells of roasted malts and a light hint of pumpkin pie spice. Tastes like a well balanced porter with just the right amount of spice. Not a liquid pie by any means but not too understated either. Great mouth feel, nice solid viscosity. Not watery or sticky. A nice take on the style, worth seeking out.
