A: crystal clear; deep gold in color; 1 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a splotchy cap with a thick collar; no lacing;
S: sweet malt and corn;
T: follows the nose from start to finish; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;
O: a big disappointment; other lagers I've had from Thimble Island have been very good;

Modest head production, but pretty solid retention. Transparent light coppery body.
Very nice malt-driven aroma: caramel, a bit of brown sugar, pale dough, and a handful of dark fruit. There's a slight crispness from the hops, but not a lot of identifiable hop aroma.
Flavor is also malt-forward, and on the sweeter side of the style, but very pleasant. Chewy dough, raisin, prune, caramel, toffee, bark. I agree with the previous reviewer that it's a little too sweet, but not too sweet to be enjoyable - just not quite as quaffable as an Oktoberfest tends to be. Long, wet finish; the medium body and wet finish, along with the sweetness, make this feel a touch bigger than it actually is, although there isn't any excessive alcohol heat. I think this could pass for a German Märzen, albeit not best in class by any means.

Decent Octoberfest, definitely leaning more towards the marzen/Amber lager style. But too sweet overall but a nice beer.
