Picked up a 4pak of 12 oz cans today at the brewery. $9.99 for the pack, pretty generic label applied crookedly on the can with only ID info as an IPA with 8% ABV. Brewery FB page has info about featuring CTZ, rakau and citra hops and being hazy and tropical.
Beer pours a hazy copper color with a fluffy eggshell white head of 3 cm foaming up with a fairly aggressive pour. Lots of suspended sediment in the glass. The foams recedes slowly leaving tight lattice on my glass and a sturdy surface layer.
Aroma is tropical with citrus notes and peach with a little pine sap mixed in. I think there is a little biscuity malt scent too but nothing showing for the booze at this point.
First sip reveals an average body with a slick texture and very fine tingly carbonation.
The flavor is briefly sweet malt then some sap and resiny hop notes which rolls to sweeter fruit and finishes with a decent bitter bite. My palate dries out pretty significantly after each swallow.
No hint of the 8% on the flavor profile either, well hidden alcohol.
The beer is pretty easy to drink and has decent nose and flavor, worth a shot if you like fruity IPAs.
