Sampling a cellar temp can poured into a snifter. The beer pours a hazy chestnut color with a minimal beige head foaming up after the pour.
The aroma is mild with some bready yeast notes and a bit of tropical fruit maybe pineapple, but there is not much of a robust nose. The scent is a little disappointing on this beer.
The first sip reveals an average body with fine rolling carbonation.
The flavor is significantly sweeter than I would expect for a DIPA. I get caramel and a mix of fruit with again a bit of pineapple. I get a faint black peppery finish, which I attribute to the 8% but I do not get any accompanying warming from this ABV.
Im much less impressed with this beer over the other experimental 157. This flavor profiles seems a little muddled and while the booze is well hidden I am not sure I enjoy how this beer has come together. I would not buy this again if I had a chance to do so.
