Half on cask at Craft Beer Co. Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange with very little head (cask pour) that leaves a ring around the beer. Nose is muted compared to what I expected from this big beer. Pine and some citrus, but I get the feeling the cask carbonation is really hurting the nose on this one. Taste is initially mostly resin bitterness. Not sure what the IBUs are, but the perceived bitterness is super high. After a couple drinks and the taste buds adjust, there is actually quite a bit of sweetness. Hard orange juice mixes with the resin. Not what I'd call balanced, but it does improve as your tongue adjusts. Overall, I can only guess this beer would be better from a keg. The nose needs the carbonation and a few degrees colder temp might temper the perceived bitterness.
