Our double GABF Gold Medal winning ESB – Public Ale – aged for five months in a California White Burgundy barrel with three Brettanomyces strains and tart cherries. The Brett slowly chews through residual sugars from the original beer, leading to a very dry, tart, fruity and delightfully funky beer! Only one barrel (~200 bottles) was made of this very special beer. Served bottle conditioned.

Had ontap at Taverna Rossa in Plano TX. Served as a 13oz pour. Hazy copper brown in color and clocks in at 9.6% ABV

Out of a taster, 4 oz pour for $7 so not cheap at all.
Looks a wonderful red copper brown color. Smells a wonderfully fruity, not too vinegray or funk like a lot of Flanders.
Very well balanced and drinkable. Really wish I could have had a pint of this stuff.
Overall a very fine example of a Flander style Belgian beer out from Community. Much more approachable than other high end rare Belgian style ales I've had. Only wish it was less rare/expensive.

Hazy orange body and small off white soapy head.
Little bit of cherry comes through better on the nose. Slight tartness. Dry. Musty brett.

This rating is based on the wine version of this beer as the 2nd version was whiskey barrel aged, which was not even close to the wine version. The wine version had a nice acidity and sweetness, but also had a nice funk due to the brett. Brett, cherries, wine and the ESB that was the base beer blended perfectly. The whiskey version was just all over the place and not close for me.
