This beer is inspired by the complex, warming flavors of traditional Mexican hot chocolate. We start this journey with a robust Brown Porter and infuse the beer with a delicate blend of Guajillo, Passila, Chipotle, & Habenero peppers.. Additions of rich chocolate, mild cinnamon, and whole vanilla beans provide complexity and balance to this flavorful brew.

12oz can, wine glass, canned 1/6/20.
On the lighter side, like fizzy cola, both in the color and the fleeting way the light brown head crackles away.
The aroma is strikingly similar to the Mexican beverage being so fondly imitated. Loads of milk chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, and a hint of pepperiness. I also get chocolate graham crackers.
The flavors are very similar, with two notable characteristics. One is that the hint of chili becomes a spark, which becomes a flame. It's a deep, red chili note that's also a bit vegetal and definitely spicy, and that spice builds. Second, the body is very thin, shockingly so for the style and such rich flavors. Maybe it's the carbonation, which is on the high side.
Stone's Xocoveza is my point of reference for this flavor profile in a beer, and while this has a killer aroma and good flavor I would recommend the former.

It's hard to review this beer since it's so unique.
Pours dark chocolate brown with a very thin dark tan head that dissipates quickly.
The smell is spicy first with a dark chocolate sweetness underneath.
The flavor is exactly as you would expect from the flavors. Very chocolatey stout up front, followed by warm cinnamon, and followed still by a slow burn of heat that crests after you swallow and lingers for quite a while on the pallet. The flavor is very like a poblanos pepper, but hotter.
