December 28th, 2013 - Hall Brewing was recommended by the local home-brew guru and beer aficionado, and I think it was a good suggestion. Ratebeer, and its users, seemed less kind, but the Farmhouse IPA is pushing high scores on my palate. The brew is topped with a good inch and a half of cork colored bubbles, and the body is a deep, rich brown, with some shades of red to give it an earth tone and warmth. The smell is powerfully perfumed, and rich with orange, rose, tangerine and unripe pineapple, engaging and demanding at the same time. The body, meanwhile, is very soft, and the first impression is grain and bitterness. It is, broadly, like many other saisons, but with a more impressing bitterness that blends well. In the mid and late taste it turns into a dark chocolate bitterness. It's a fascinating transmogrification, and one especially unexpected in this style of beer. A great start to my relationship to the underdog Hall Brewing Company/

After tasting this IPA I can only hope Hall follows up with a White IPA. Easily one of the best IPA's from Colorado.

Did a double-take when pouring from the 12 oz can into glass. It's almost brown, very much like Upslope's IPA. Color was a little off-putting, but it was very clear and brilliant.
Aroma...boring. Some hints of farmhouse, sure, but no hint of hops. Malty, a little boozy with a slight hint of funk.
Taste: very much like a farmhouse ale, but again, where da hops at? Some bitterness present, but mostly malty with a pseudo-funky aftertaste.
Mouthfeel was fine. Good body, not too thin.
Overall, not sure why they have "IPA" in the name. The beer tastes ok, but would have been much less put off if it were just called Farmhouse Ale.

12oz can $1.79. I have passed on this in bombers because they just seemed suspect. Amber orange color. Boring aroma, not much hops. Flavor was a malty and hopless bore. I had a feeling this would be the case. There are just too many good beers on local shelves for these guys to get my money, slightly below average.

Medium amber color in the De Proef slim tulip. Long lasting suds and a mouthfeel that's bubbly but silky. Still streaming fine bubbles long after pouring. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Grapevine Liquor in Denver.
A fruity taste like fermenting pineapple and a hint of cherries. Some malty sweetness. Mineral taste echoes the English style. Plenty of hops. Rather bitter aftertaste. Intriguing aroma of straw, Crystal malt, and pears. Dry finish.
Thanks to Mebuzzard for pointing out the confusing use of "Farmhouse" on several of the Hall brews (except the Saison, of course!). That and the lack of any alcohol content indications on labels or the website makes me approach this with a little caution. However, this is a perfectly drinkable and interesting beer so I'm eager to try more.

On Tap at LiL Ricci's.
A- Golden standard IPA hue.
S- Hop bitterness with some breadiness. I can get the farmhouse out of it.
T- Big hop bite as the beer lowers in temp. Left with a bitter hop taste (not for me, but for many IPA lovers)
M- Not too thin or thick. Pretty standard for IPA.
O- I am excited to see what Hall Brewing Co. can do! I live right around the corner! Be the next HF

1 pint 6 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard unbranded pry-off pressure cap acquired from a friend and served into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass in me parents' gaff in high altitude Castle Rock, Colorado. Reviewed live. Expectations are average; I've never really had a beer from this brewery.
Served cold. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.
A: No bubble show forms as it's poured.
Pours entirely head - there's no actual body upon the initial pour. Sweet Jesus that seems overcarbonated. Okay thickness. Not much creaminess. Okay consistency and complexion. Head retention is good - about 7-8 minutes. No real lacing clings to the sides of the glass as the head recedes.
Body colour is a clear translucent pale copper. No floating yeast particles are visible.
Overall, it looks decent for the style.
Sm: Bland. Pale malts. Maybe some floral hop character. Painfully simple and extremely light.
No yeast character or alcohol is detectable. For what little I can detect, it doesn't smell too bad. I'm optimistic.
T: Generic floral hop character. Pale malts. Clean barley. Painfully simple; that's really all there is to it. I don't really get much farmhouse character from it - certainly no brettanomyces yeast character or Belgian spice (not even clove). A biteen soapy.
No yeast character or alcohol comes through. Below average depth and intensity of flavour. Average duration of flavour. Lacks complexity, subtlety, intricacy, and nuance.
Mf: Smooth and wet. A bit overcarbonated. Decent body and thickness. Suits the flavour profile okay in a general sense, but doesn't feel custom-tailored specifically to it.
Not oily, astringent, gushed, hot, boozy, or harsh.
Dr: Downable but forgettable. I wouldn't get it again. Pretty mediocre. I'm not getting any of the purported farmhouse character. It's a decent little IPA, but it offers little to the discerning drinker.

22 oz bottle. Pours copper amber with a small creamy white head that goes to a thin film and leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is sweet earthy toffee malts.
The flavor is sweet sugary toffee malts with a little earthy bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, more like a sweet ESB than an IPA.

A new beer from a new brewery in Parker, CO
Unfortunately, the ratings take a hit due to the use of "farmhouse" in the beer name(s). These are not farmhouse styles, but brewed in a new farmhouse facility.
With that said, the beers share a malty characteristic throughout, and this one exemplifies it.
Malt forward nose and flavors. This IPA seems to be a cross of American and English styles. The hops are present, but aren't as strong as AIPAs, and while earthy, not quite so much as EIPAs. So, what does this mean?
If you like malty-er, earth like IPAs, go with this one. If you're looking for a hop bomb this isn't the one for you.
Probably pair with burger or veggie/mushroom burger
