A seasonal favorite returns, brewed with over 168 pounds of all natural blueberry puree, the nose of this light violet colored beer is overflowing with notes of ripe berry. A lightly toasted malt character quickly gives way to blueberry sweetness, ending with a refreshing tart finish.

32oz growler poured into a stemless wine glass.
The beer pours a lovely ruby red, hues of purple, slight haze but fairly clear with a few bubbles rising to the top of the glass. The beer sports a fluffy, soapy, white head, about 2 fingers high that has moderate retention and doesn't yield too much lace. The aroma is nice, fresh blueberry, a bit earthy, perhaps the aroma of the stems as well, a bit of musty grain comes through, but this is a very simple beer, straight to the point. Blueberries. The flavors follow nicely, plenty of blueberry, but still a bit earthy rather than vibrant or bright, there is a bit of other muddled berry flavors, some mustiness, almost grape like, with some of the backing blonde flavors, mostly simple pale grain, but with an unexpected bitterness. The body is nice, quite lively, coats the mouth well, a bit of zip without any prickliness and the finish is nice, lightly creamy.
Verdict: A creative and fun take on a simple and bland base style. The blueberries add a nice touch, although the beer does feel a bit too bitter, lacks any brightness of vibrancy, comes across almost like boring blueberry juice. That being said, this was definitely a refreshing brew, one I could enjoy lots of on a hot summer's day.
