A German-inspired Altbier ale brewed to commemorate the top dog of the Champaign County Humane Society's Mutt Strut 2020!
We utilized a decoction mash on this Düsseldorf-inspired Altbier and the resulting proteins and polyphenols have contributed an extraordinary smooth and creamy mouthfeel to this otherwise hoppy, amber colored, hybrid beer. Fermented with a lager yeast but at ale temperatures, then lagered for 5 weeks, we’re excited to celebrate Dory’s wonderful journey and wish her all the best.

Can date smudged, thanks to falloutsnow
Pours a med-larger frothy off-white head with med retention, a bit of frothy lacing, semi clear copper slight iced tea colored
Nose is nice, sweet grainy toasted malts, hint of caramel and sweet almost candy malt but not quite candy, fair herbal hop, herbal tea, a bit earthy as well
Taste brings more sweet malts, a touch of caramel and toffee like sweetness, more toasted grain, bread crust, med-lighter bitterness, hops bring herbal tea, a little spicy note late, a bit herbal earthy, even mossy, some biscuity malt notes as well, drier finish, more herbal earthy hop bitterness
Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, med frothy carb
Overall not bad, nice altbier, good for style, not overly hoppy or bitter thankfully, but nice malty character with enough hop to come through nicely

Nice, easy drinking altbier. Good balance between malt and hops. Very tasty!
