I got a can of this beer from my good friend and old neighbor from the 'Wego. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had chocolate and subtle hot sauce notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with chocolate, pistachios, and subtle chili peppers. The mouthfeel is fuller in body and had smooth carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

poured from a 16oz crowler into a Rev Deep Woods Series Rastal tumbler. pours an inky black with minimal tan head that dissipates before i can even bring the glass to my nose for a whiff. bittersweet chocolate and a slightly spicy pepper aroma on the nose. as it gets closer to room temperature, the vanilla becomes more prominent. taste is spicy chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. not too much pepper or cinnamon spice, which i really appreciate. the peppers do show up a little more on the finish at room temperature but nothing offensive. a medium-full mouthfeel with that lower level of carbonation i prefer in imperial stouts. overall, it’s rich but well balanced. fairly easy drinking for such a big beer. no single additive dominates creating a flavor amalgam that mimics Mexican hot chocolate. quite delicious!
