I got a can of this beer from my good friend and old neighbor from the 'Wego. It poured a clear amber with off white head that is leaving some nice lace. The scent had bold malt notes with dank ripe citrus highlights. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with smoove sweet malt base with bitter citrus and pine resin presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer!

Dark reddish tone, bright clarity, ample foam and lace, lasting skim.
Piney and citrusy aroma, toasty red malt.
Resiny hoppy taste, juicy grapefruit and bitter pine sap. Lingering resiny bitterness. Medium bodied, light malt sweetness to balance the intense bitterness. Reminds me of Tongue Buckler bombers from back in the olden days. Well done!

Half Acre Pint Glass, 16 oz can, born on 9/10/21.
Deep mahogany color with several shades of fiery orange. Mmm. Big fat fluffy top like a Guinness stout. This is stuff of dreams.
Aroma is redolent with raisin, fig, and fruitcake, with contrasting notes of pine, cherry, and mahogany. A slight bit of candied citrus wafts up as well.
Masterful imperial hoppy red. Raisin and fruitcake open this one up, followed by cherry tobacco, grapefruit peel, cherry candy, and finally a huge presence of pine, lemon, and mahogany. It waxes a bit bitter on the finish but I can take it. Only docks I'd say would be the cherry notes can border on cough syrup and that it has a very bitter close.
Feel is slick, oily, resinous. semi-creamy, and then finally more palate busting resins on the finish. If there is alcohol in this beer, I can't detect it.
Overall, WOW. This is an imperial red for the record books. Just pick this up if you see it - especially if you like hoppy reds. I would rank this as one of the top ten best imperial amber ales in the world.
An imperial amber has all the opportunity to showcase Triptych's complexity in brewing and they have done it. Man. Just ridiculous. They absolutely should brew this again!
