On-tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad
A: The pour is a nice golden color with a big white head and some streaks of lacing.
S: The nose is highly citrusy and quite pungent with some pine and grapefruit leading the way. There are some nice floral hop notes floating in there as well.
T: The flavor misses the mark of the nose just a little bit. The bitterness is good, but the complimentary hop flavors are not quite there: the floral and citrus just fall a little flat. The malt provides a bit of sweetness, but is not the main attraction.
M: The body is medium with a fairly crisp and refreshing level of carbonation.
D: I liked this one a fair amount, though I was very surprised to see from the Big Dog's website that this beer is 8.1%. Seems quite high (especially to be considered a "regular" IPA). But, the booze is not detectable.
