Day 15 of the 2018 Advent Calendar.
Unlike many Belgian beers, this one has a lower carbonation and almost no head.
Nice color but not much other than candy on the aroma.
The first sip confirm it-- this is a sweet beer although one that I enjoyed.
The finish is not as sweet, and there is a hint of the hoppiness that I want more of in it.
Pretty decent, though.

330ml bottle - day 15 of the 2018 Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Made at Het Nest in Belgium.

This beer pours a clear, medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly bubbly ecru head, which leaves some random dissolving ice floe profile lace around the glass as it evenly sinks out of sight.

It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, biscuity toffee, some bruised pome fruitiness, and very tame earthy, musty, and floral hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, toffee pudding, baked red apples, browned pears, ethereal estery yeast, and more well-understated leafy, musky, and dead floral hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-satisfying frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and actually fairly smooth, with nothing really a cause for concern at this particular juncture. It finishes off-dry, the malt and attendant frooty essences keepin' on keepin' on.

Overall - this comes across as a cross between a BSDA and a BSPA, so I guess 'amber' is the correct moniker. Full of flavour, and with zero sign of the 9.3% ABV, pretty easy to drink. A proper entry for mid-December, and the prospect of dealing with last-minute Christmas shopping.
