White Pony Microbrewery "The Prestidigitator"
33 cl brown glass bottle "Best before: 30/07/2050"

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a black body beneath a short head of tan foam. The aroma is rich with malt, alcohol, nuttiness, caramel, and soft dark-skinned fruits (raisin, dried fig, prune), and a bit of oak ~ there's also a touch of Acetaldehyde but it's not quite "nail polish" just yet. This is also aged in Bourbon barrels and I think I kind of get the Bourbon but I don't want to outright say that I smell Bourbon. On to the taste, it's again very rich, alcoholic, and fruity but still with a big maltiness to it. Can I taste Bourbon? I'm going to say yes. Does everything that I previously found in the aroma remain? Let me check... ... yes, so, so good so far. There's also a note of vanilla, obviously from the oak, and a touch of cherry and almond. The alcohol is a little stronger than the nose lets on, but it's not too hot or too much, although close. I'm tasting Filberts and almond, some cocoa powder, and maybe a bit of pistachio as well. The caramel is both golden and medium, and perhaps even a little bit darker than that. As it warms the alcohol also is becoming stronger in the nose, and it's getting to the point of becoming a negative. The taste is also taking on more of a sour cherry component. This is normal as you progress through a glass of something as intense and strong as this, and I'll chalk it up to complexity. In the mouth it's medium bodied on the fuller side and gently crisp although the alcohol adds a little zing. I'm lucky, in my opinion, to have been able to taste two big beers so far from White Pony and I'm looking forward to more.
