Picked this up at a great beer shop in Darmstadt, Germany, Maruhn Welt der Getränke. Opened as a gusher but managed to save most of it. Murky mahogany pour with huge four finger foamy tan head with decent retention and minimal lacing. The nose is dominated by peaty smoke and sweet malts. Hints of toffee, caramel, and brown sugar as well. The taste follows suit with the peat and smoke dominating totally along with hints of toffee, caramel, and molasses. The mouthfeel is slightly thick and syrupy with medium carbonation and a sweet finish. Overall, definitely my cup of tea as I've never been a fan of smokey beers.

Has a huge, beige head, while the beer is almost black, with fiery, ember hints in it.
Smells of smoked ham big times, slightly salted with sweeter toffeeish, earthy malts. Got a sugary note to it, giving the beer a decent balance between smoke rusticness and glazed malts. It also does have a banana whiff to it, becoming visible underneath the malts.
Has a light, well balanced body with earthen malts, cane sugar, lots of smokiness and a salty, sour hint. After the initial smoke the malts turn bready, slightly dry, well hopped with a toffeeish note.
