Yellow-amber color, with small head.
Definitely different, compared to other Kölschs, both in aroma and in taste. This is a much more hoppier and more aromatic interpretation of this style, which makes it actually an interesting beer.
Floral aromas are rising from my Duvel tulip, I am getting a good sense of the smell of the beer, without even putting my nose near the glass, pretty impressive intensity. Lovely floral aromas get enriched by tropical, fruity hints, with a sour sting in the background, while earthy malts add a gentle complexity to the nose.
Smooth, soft beginning, due to earthy malts and soft yeast. Soon the sublte sourness from the aroma is recognizable in taste, getting well along with a fruity hop bitterness. This adds a tremendously refreshing aspect to the beer, which results in an almost acidic impression. Hops add grass and lime to the palate, while wheaty, bready yeast is responsible for the beer not becoming too sour. Has a surprisingly dry finish, with just a tiny drop of honey in it, while the tartness is at its peak.
Fantastic interpretation, this beer has a very enjoyable depth, while being at only 4,8 abv, with a strikingly well integrated thirst-quenching component, which is defined by sourness and tropical, limy hops. First Kölsch I really enjoyed.
