Pours a hazy, opaque, bright orange coloration with a large, wispy, quickly receding head. Smell is dominated by mango and passion fruit, with little else coming through here except perhaps a hint of tangerine. Taste follows the nose, being so dominated by the mango and passion fruit, with a certain, fruity acidity, that little else is coming through here except a hint of tangerine from the hops, and lactose. Finishes with a light bitterness, acidity and hop burn with some mango and passion fruit lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I think this makes for a rather nice, quite fruity summer IPA, although the lactose really doesn't come through here very much, making this a somewhat poor Milkshake IPA that totally lacks the style's sweet character and creamy mouthfeel. Personally, however, I don't mind that at all, as I'm not a big fan of lactose in beer in general, and think that this really makes for a rather refreshing and enjoyable Fruited New England IPA with a rather vibrant and juicy tropical character and a great balance of sweet and acidic fruity notes, with the passion fruit standing out particularly, perhaps even overshadowing the mango a little here.
