Pours an almost clear, reddish mahogany coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of bready, caramel malt, some light fruity/spicy esters of red apple and clove, with just a hint of cinnamon as well. Taste is a decent balance of bready, caramel malt, some red apple and clove, lighter dark fruit and red berries, with accents of raisin and cranberry, as well as just a hint of cinnamon coming through in the aftertaste. Finishes with a light sweetness and some caramel malt, red apple, clove and hints of cinnamon lingering in the aftertaste. Thin mouthfeel with a light/medium body and carbonation.
While I really enjoyed the last two beers I had from Ale-Mania, this one fell a little short for me, although I also don't think that it's quite as bad as some of the ratings suggest. Yes, it's a little thin and light-bodied, but there are some decent estery fruit and spice notes to this that are enhanced nicely by the very subtle additives here. While these additives do not come through all that strongly, that is not necessarily a bad thing, as they could easily turn too cloying otherwise. I think the main problem here is the base beer not being too convincing, rather than the additives not showing through too much, as I do believe that less can be more when it comes to this. Overall, I still found this to be enjoyable enough, even though it may not be quite as rich as it could be. At the end of the day, it chose to err on the side of caution, which is good enough for me, as cinnamon especially can turn quite cloying very easily.

Apfelstrudel... now that I gotta try. It's a collab with 2Cabeças out of Rio de Janiero. Ingredients: dried apple slices, candy sugar, cinnamon sticks and raisins.
Sounds promising, eh?
However, it was quite disappointing. It was rather thin, having a flavor profile of Frankfurt's Apfelwein but minus the sourness. Cinnamon and raisins could've been in there but it was hard to find. I've had Apfelstrudel in ice cream which tasted great, but here it barely translated into anything but a slight sweetness and a little apple flavor, and then not much more. There also wasn't that much of a Dubbel characteristic. I may have said this before, but if a brewer puts something in the beer's name, it better damn taste like it, or give it another name. Either don't be stingy with the ingredients, thinking too much might offend, or put the flavors in post-fermentation.
