Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, grainy malt and faint citrus/tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit and papaya, as well as some light floral/herbal accents. Taste is a good balance of biscuity, grainy malt and fruity, slightly juicy, floral, herbal and resinous hops, with citrus and tropical notes of grapefruit, tangerine, mango and papaya, as well as just a hint of pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit and papaya lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While I think that this makes for a nice IPA with a good balance of fruity, floral and herbal hops, it just doesn't feel truly juicy to me while also somewhat lacking the haze and soft mouthfeel that is expected of the style. I did enjoy it well, enough for what it is, but it's just not a true NEIPA to me and certain can't compete with the offerings of other German breweries that specialize in the style. I really wish that Ale-Mania would stick to the more traditional styles that do well and are somewhat hard to find rather than chasing the modern styles that they just not do all that well, to be honest. Rating this to style, would have probably rated it slightly higher if it didn't style itself a NEIPA.
