Immodest hop additions throughout the brewing process characterize this distinctive, amber colored NorCal fashioned India Pale Ale. With an ABV of 7.2% galvanized by a total of 64 IBU’s, we were obliged to create an IPA that would distinguish itself as immortal amongst the common, and with an unforgettable name. We believe we have done just that. Heroine India Pale Ale. A pint of help is on her way.

Time for a blech review, might have been awhile. Drank in June 2015.
Amber colored pour, perhaps this is a maltier ipa from yesteryear, 1/3" white head. Aroma was lacking hops. Dude, you're in Petaluma, how did you think this was a good idea not to dry hop your ipa?
Lots of bitter caramel and still not much in the way of hop flavor besides a big bittering dose to get the ibus pumped up. Its like a lot of English ipas I've had, lots of malt, only hops are for bittering. I dunno what the commercial tug job about "immodest" hop additions is all about. This is the rare unbalanced towards malty ipa. Flat out, this beer does nothing good, and the only thing "average" about it is the appearance.
My buddy picked this up because he is a metal guy and was drawn to the label. It was a universal thumbs down from everyone at the pool party who tried it. The only way I would have ever recommended it to anyone was if they were like, "man, I love copper pennies in some dark bread."

On tap at Timber Coast (Jenner, CA) served in a shaker pint. Pours golden amber with a solid head of white foam and fine lace. Aromas of pine resin, rosemary, citrus and caramel. Caramel carries the taste with a good dose of woodsy pine, citrus peel, hoppy spice healthy bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. And old school IPA with good malt backbone, increasingly rare along the West Coast.

Can at PKWY - Henderson;. Medium amber pour with slight foamy head. Aroma is gentle hoppiness with a big malty backbone. Malts drive the taste, caramel flavors, mildly sweet, small hops bite at the end.

Pours a dark amber with some head that dissipated somewhat. I don't like this beer at all. The taste/look/feel took me back ten years to the IPA scene and feel like this beer should evolve in the wake of all these amazing brews out now. I tried my best to get any sort of flavor profile mentioned below but just kept on getting this overpowering scent/taste of stale toasted malt.

Not a fan of the dank, slightly fecund flavor, nor the graphics or the verbage.
A) Deep hazed brownish tawn color. After an initial half finger it sits laceless, headless, dull.
S: Spiced hops with funky and grassy herbals and not much tropical fruit. Over ripe, slight decay, on a heavy malt base.
T: Taste follows the smell with an almost ENGLISH STYLE of dark bready malt biscuit balanced with spicy, fecund, grassy hop. A funky mix of grass with spice as well as over ripened tropical fruit on the side of an island road.
M: The mouth is largely creamy with astringent and drying, peppery finale. Odd.
D: "Hefty toasted malt bill" with odd fecund, overripe flavors. Warming.

Golden pour with a packed fluffy head. Aroma of pine, crackery malt, melon. Taste is pine, spruce, mint, herbal tea, melon. Slightly sweet and bitter follow through. Solid beer.

I've revised my reviews down on all of my 101 North beers.
I live in Petaluma; I've been drinking 101 North beers for years, even going to their tap room. I've ordered it on tap from many locations around the north bay and watch the bar tender struggle with pouring a good glass. The beers have been over-carbonated since the beginning, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was just a one-time mistake from a small brewer, but it's been YEARS of this. It's just poor brewing at this point and it's no longer acceptable.
Additionally, every time I go to the tap room, they ONLY have Heroine and Golden Naked available for sale in bombers (or any size). I've been a few times over the last 3 years, and there's never anything else for sale. Either their tap room employees are clueless or the person running the business is.
Heroine is a decent IPA, but it's no longer amateur hour in the craft brew market.
