Poured from 500mL bottle into a dimpled mug. This is the fresh 2020 edition of this beer, 6.2% ABV.
Appearance: medium golden-orange hue with a light haze and a thin finger of frothy ivory foam atop. I think it looks the part!
Smell: very fresh citrusy, earthy, grassy hops with a light, crisp malty sweetness underneath. I really like this.
Taste: rich, fresh, citrusy, green hop flavor. The malt base is halfway between sweet and dry, so quite balanced. Bitterness is relatively low at first, but builds gently with each sip. I think this beer is quite successful.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a pretty decent level of carbonation; Machine House makes cask-style ales, so you expect a certain muted quality to the carbonation. It's nice, though.
Overall: there's a bit more hop flavor punch and a little less crispness to this beer than their fresh hop bitter, so it's not quite as quickly quaffable, but still it's a tasty treat.
