Foam oozed out of the bottle after the cap was popped. The tall pile of whipped cream foam sat for the longest time before it dissolved into a drinkable inch of beer in the tulip. Very fizzy on the tongue. Odd aroma of straw and alfalfa.
Kind of sweet, earthy, and rough. There's a raw grain taste along with a hint of buckwheat. And maybe a smidgen of bad homebrew lurking in the aftertaste. Quite bitter, more like an American IPA, but there is the fruity English hop note. They seem to have just overdosed on the hops. Borderline drinkable. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at Central Market.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium, hazy golden amber. Following the instructions on the bottle, attempted a very careful pour so as to not disturb the sediment, but it was very, very foamy throughout the pour and clearly turbid from start to finish. Over half a glass of foam that dissipated slowly, leaving thick lacing. Great aroma of biscuit malt, grassy hops with bright citrus and floral notes, smells like I hope an English style IPA will. Flavor is biscuit malt, grassy and citrus hops, orange citrus, dry floral hay and mild summer herbs. Medium bodied with light creaminess and great carbonation. Although clearly English IPA inspired (and this is the best English style breweries in Seattle), the clear citrus note push the style envelope a bit, but do add interest to the ale. Nice authentic malt with clear noble hop notes, but also the citrus and dry grassy, but somewhat herbal and floral. A foamy, but very nice, enjoyable take on this style that I could drink regularly. This is one of Seattle's sleeper breweries.
