Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark, somewhat hazy, mahogany brown with a quarter finger khaki head that dissipates to a thick cap with nice lacing. Aroma of biscuit and rye malt, raisins, rye bread, faint apple juice. Flavor follows with rye and toasted biscuit malt, raisins, dates, rye bread, and a hint of orange citrus. Light to moderate grassy hops in finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I'm not sure where I'm getting the rye notes in this ale, since rye is not noted as a malt, but like last year it is a distinctive flavor component to my palette. Hops seem a little more aggressive this year too, giving a more robust bitterness to the finish. Otherwise quite similar to last year's in profile and as equally enjoyable. I was not able to snag another bottle of the 2022, but will try again to cellar one for a year as suggested by the brewery.
