16oz tallboy can purchased at Community Pint, in Spokane, WA, for $4.49.
Poured into a 16oz glass, this was a dark, caramel looking amber, with about an inch of beige colored foam on top. Said head receded after a couple minutes to a thin foam ring on the top of the beer.
Speaking of caramel, sweet, bready, caramely malts are what the workers at my olfactory detected.
Taste is much like the aroma. It's a sweetly malty beer that delivers it's flavor in a lighter package than the usual Scottish Ale (generally a Wee Heavy) that I encounter that's brewed stateside. Unsurprisingly, Machine House has made this 60 Shilling Ale an authentic tasting one. It's caramely, bready, and a wee bit fruity.
Fairly light bodied, which was to be expected, given the particular species of Scottish Ale.
Very easy drinking stuff. A Scottish ale for sessioning. Wish I had another.

Poured into a MacAndrew's thistle glass. Pours a medium caramel amber with a half finger off-white head that dissipates to a thick cap with light lacing. Aroma of dark malt with a hint of caramel, brown bread and dried apple. Flavor follows with dark bready malt, light dry caramel, molasses bread, dried apples and a hint of peaty smoke; flavor is mild. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Hits all the notes I'd like to taste in a Scottish ale, but attenuated in flavor; not unexpected for the ABV which is approaching small beer. Nice malty flavor and the hint of smoke is appreciated. Makes me want to try a bigger version of this, because the flavor is fine, but not that intense. One of the few session ales I could grow to like. Hard to score because it is not as deep flavored as othe Scottish ales, but quite enjoyable for a 60 shilling.
